Medical Coding and Billing Enhancements

We’ve got an improved Medical Coding and Billing program. It has a whole new flow, and you’ll find these updates align seamlessly with current industry standards so you get the best, most effective training experience possible.

For nearly 30 years, we’ve made it our mission to offer healthcare training that helps our learners thrive in their careers and pursue more rewarding lives. This means it’s our job to make sure the content we provide—in every program—reflects the latest trends and best practices in the industry.

In pursuit of this mission, we’ve given our Medical Coding and Billing program a complete overhaul—and we’re excited to share the results!

Why we decided to update Medical Coding and Billing

The healthcare industry is in constant flux. It ebbs and flows and shifts with every breakthrough or discovery. It happens fast, and as the industry evolves, the way we learn and absorb knowledge needs to change.

To keep pace, we regularly connect with top health systems across the country to make sure we have a solid grasp of what professionals are experiencing on the job and what skills are considered the most valuable.

After collecting the information, crunching the numbers, and analyzing the data, we saw an opportunity to prepare our learners for greater success in the field of medical coding and billing.

So we got to work.

What’s changed

Outpatient vs. Inpatient: Our previous Medical Coding and Billing program contained both Outpatient and Inpatient coding information. In an effort to help learners build a stronger foundation for their careers, we’ve eliminated Inpatient coding from our outline and placed a significant emphasis on Outpatient Services.

Interactive Learning: Everyone learns differently. Some prefer to read, while others absorb more by listening. But most of us do best in interactive environments. We’ve scaled back on reading exercises and lectures and injected a healthy dose of practical learning to provide a more realistic, hands-on experience. The integration of EHR Go technology allows learners to experiment with simulated health records based on real patient profiles, while 3D environments paint an incredibly realistic picture of human anatomy and physiology.

Telehealth Skills: COVID-19 changed everything, and the impact of the past year will continue to influence the job market for years to come. That’s why we added Telehealth Skills training to our outline: to support the post-pandemic world and give learners an advantage over their peers as they prepare to seek employment.

Success in the Workforce: When it comes to career success, there’s a lot more to consider than just passing an exam and earning a credential or two. Soft skills matter, too. With a solid chunk of time explicitly dedicated to career readiness, our new program is aligned to meet the needs of the workforce.

Federal Qualified Health-Centric Coding: There are facilities across the country that serve the underprivileged. It’s rewarding work, and there are specific coding and billing guidelines these facilities need to follow. We’ve included this information so learners can boost their knowledge and expand their job search radius.
